Friday is very important in Islamic history. This day is the greatest hour of every week called “Yom al-Juma” meaning Friday. This day has a great merit for Muslims and there are special blessings in the worship of this day. The importance of Friday has been repeatedly mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith and special importance has been given to the worship of this day.
Friday worship and its virtues: (جمعہ کا دن اور اس کی اہمیت: ایک مختصر جائزہ)
On the authority of Hazrat Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Friday is the chief of all days. It is better than Eid in the sight of Allah. There are five things in this day that are not found in any other day:
- On this day, Allah created Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him).
- On the same day he was admitted to Paradise.
- On the same day he was expelled from Paradise.
- On the same day, the Day of Judgment will be established.
- On that day there will come a time when a Muslim supplicates to Allah, Allah will accept him.” (Ibn Majah)
From this hadith, we know that Friday is so important that the prayers of this day include the special blessings and mercy of Allah.
Friday Prayer: (جمعہ کی نماز)
Friday prayers are generally given importance. It was narrated from Hazrat Ali that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“It is obligatory to offer the prayer on Friday, but the one who cannot come because of an excuse, there is forgiveness for him.” (Sahih Muslim)
There are two sermons in the Friday prayer and there are also special blessings. On this day, Muslims should prepare for prayer by coming to the mosque before the Friday call to prayer so that they are filled with the blessings of Allah.
Friday and Acceptance of Duas: (جمعہ کا دن اور دعاؤں کی قبولیت)
On the authority of Hazrat Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“There is an hour in the day of Friday in which Allah accepts the supplications of His servants.” (Sahih Muslim). This hadith indicates that Allah accepts the prayers of His servants during the special hour of Friday. In order to take advantage of this day’s merits, Muslims should seek Allah’s blessings and forgiveness in their prayers.
Friday Actions: (جمعہ کے دن کے اعمال)
Friday prayers and azkar are also very important. On this day, it is recommended to recite the Qur’an, perform Nafl prayers, and especially recite Surah Al-Kahf. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Whoever recites Surah Kahf on Friday, a special wave of Allah’s mercy will come to him.” (Ibn Majah), Also, it is very important to give charity, be kind to people and keep your heart pure on Fridays.
Effect of Friday prayers: (جمعہ کے دن کی دعاؤں کا اثر)
Friday is especially suitable for prayers because this day is the day of special blessings of Allah. Muslims seek forgiveness for their sins on this day and pray to Allah for the betterment of their lives. The prayers and prayers on this day not only give peace to the soul of man but also lead him to the pleasure of Allah.
Friday and the gathering of Muslims: (جمعہ کا دن اور مسلمانوں کا اجتماع)
On Fridays, Muslims gather in one place and engage in worship and remembrance of Allah. This day is a day of gathering and brotherhood for Muslims, in which everyone comes together to talk about religion and guide each other.
